MONSOON IS COMING... ... and the game of rains, muddy puddles and dreamy clouds begins! It started raining heavily before I could start my 14km trek in the sacred forest of Mawphlang near Shillong. The rain always uplifts my spirits so I continued my trek with my guide, John. You go downhill, cross a river and then uphill in the David Scott Trail trek.
I don't like to pluck flowers and mostly resist my temptation by collecting the fallen ones, but when John made me this beautiful head wreath with a fern leaf and some wildflowers, I put it on like a smug kitten 😀 I ate this delicious Citrus fruit, don't know what it is.
This trek is strikingly beautiful - you see lot of greenery, waterfalls and pastures. There are lot of leeches in this forest and I got bitten by one on my foot. A local woman rubbed tobacco on it - there are lots of betel nut trees in and around the forest and the locals here love to eat tobacco with betel nut (supari). #meghalaya#shillong#mawphlang#forests#nemoplilist#wildflowers#foresttrek#waterfalls#instatravel#indiatravels#hiking#foresthike#wildlife#tribesofindia#villagesofindia
