The intent is to push into the ground in order to transfer force from front leg to move in opposite direction. Force applied is what propels an athlete forward, stops them in a cut, and re-accelerates them in a new direction. Force is the driver for all movement and the rate at which you can produce it (Giuliano & Terrell, 2017). You can then add components such as speed of movement, rebounding, sprinting from starting position, and reaction. Goal is to be able to load and unload...with intent of effort to maximize intended results.
