Who remembers the old British saucy #postcards
you could buy at the seaside? We had sooooo much fun reading those and having a good giggle. It was always a difficult choice to pick one to send to your mates as they we're all so funny. These were created by the artist #donaldmcgill
. They were banned after the war for being too naughty, but they made a comeback in the more liberal 1960s.
McGill drew 12,000 designs with silly and sexual inuendos depicting fat old ladies, honeymoon couples, vicars and drunk middle aged men. You would see many of them at #seasidetowns
He sold over 200 million. Some people wouldn't appreciate them nowadays as they are not #PC
but I guess many must have loved his works if he sold so many and was dubbed the King Of Seaside Postcards !!. Gotta love that #BritishHumour
You can find his work at the Don McGill Museum on the Isle Of Wight.
