We just completed the non-stop open ocean passage from Panama,Central America to Hawaii, about 5,250 Nautical Miles(9723 km,6642 statute miles),6 weeks at sea,the longest voyage yet on our small 40 foot craft;this was no small weekend cruise for us.
We didn't sail straight across(the ruhmb line)due to unfavorable weather and possible hurricane paths,so we went in a large arc, dipping in and out of different weather patterns.
Spending so much time on the boat with limited amount of contact with the rest of the world, constantly with my parents, yet always surrounded by the rhythm of the sea and nature it was different than what I was normally accustomed to.the trip was tough sometimes, and other times joyful;it was mentally healthy,I learnt a lot and it was just great to be out in the middle of earth's greatest ocean, but long night watches and some rough weather were inevitable.
The trip was fun, unique and adventurous;the stuff I learnt, experienced and thought of couldn't of been done in any other way,any where else and for these things I'm forever grateful.
(BTW sorry for the cringy/cheesy lantern;don't know how it got there)
